* Second-seeded Erica Sauer of Somis and Riza Zalameda of Los Angeles defeated top-seeded Judith DeVera of Carson and Lindsey Nelson of Orange, 6-1, 6-7 (7-4), 6-2, on Friday to win the USTA girls’ 14 National Hardcourt Championship doubles title in College Park, Ga.

Jamea Jackson of Fairburn, Ga., defeated Sauer, 7-6 (7-2), 6-4, in the singles semifinals.

In other USTA National Hardcourt events:

Fifth-seeded Ryan Heinberg of Agoura Hills defeated third-seeded Hamid Mirzadeh of Lake Worth, Fla., 6-1, 1-6, 7-6 (7-3), in the quarterfinals of the boys’ 16s in Kalamazoo, Mich.

In boys’ 16s doubles quarterfinals, Stephen Amritraj of Calabasas and Sam Warburg of Sacramento defeated Conner Murnighan of Glenview, Ill., and Jason Zimmermann of Westchester, Ohio, 6-3, 6-4.

Unseeded Stephanie Berg and Jessica Leck of Harvard-Westlake High beat ninth-seeded Alexis Martire of Marlboro, N.J., and Tory Zawacki of Union, N.J., 6-4, 6-1, in the girls’ 16s in San Diego.

Joshua Cohen of Weston, Fla., defeated Justin Montgomery of Channel Islands Harbor, 6-4, 6-1, in the quarterfinals of the boys’ 14s in San Antonio, Texas.

* Julia Beynon, a 6-foot sophomore middle blocker, has transferred to Buckley High from Village Christian.

* Valley Sports 2, a weekly cable television show devoted to Valley sports, resumes today at 8:30 a.m. on ESPN2 in the West Valley. The guests will be quarterback Jason Winn and center Brad Cohn of Granada Hills High.

* Tryouts for the Coastal Rockies travel baseball club’s 16- and 18-and-under teams are scheduled for 5-8 p.m. today at Ventura College.

Players trying out for the 18-and-under team must have been on a high school team last spring. Registration cost of the tryout is $10 per person.
