It’s Tough to Find Ace of This Staff

Share

Hello, my name is Joseph, and my problem is that I read the L.A. Times sports section. In response to Bill Plaschke’s Aug. 20 column about an overhaul of the Dodgers, I offer my recommendations to Times Sports Editor Bill Dwyre regarding the dismantling of his staff:

The following staff writers, in no particular order, definitely should be retained:

Ross Newhan: Even more baseball coverage would be good.

Mike Penner: His in-depth articles actually have some substance.

Grahame Jones: Nobody else cares about soccer.

J.A. Adande: He does have a degree from Northwestern.

You’ll notice a number of names are not on this list:

Mal Florence: A chimpanzee can locate quotes and put together Morning Briefing.

Tim Kawakami: Some objective reporting would be a welcome change.

Diane Pucin: I want sports, not sappy human interest stories.

Jason Reid: Better game stories would expose many of Davey Johnson’s questionable moves.

Randy Harvey: Nothing thought-provoking comes from Page Two.

T.J. Simers: Everybody’s a comedian, he’s a clown.

Bill Plaschke: His sanctimonious stances should be saved for Sunday sermons.
