Paraclete (9-3) and Rosamond (12-0), former High Desert League rivals, square off again in the Southern Section Division XII semifinal on Friday night at Rosamond.

Paraclete has requested the game be moved to a larger facility, citing the longtime rivalry--the teams’ nonleague game last season attracted a large crowd--and that Rosamond and Paraclete are the last teams alive in the Antelope Valley and draw a large gate from surrounding areas.

Coach Tim Cox of Rosamond isn’t about to yield home-field advantage for the top-seeded Roadrunners’ biggest game in four seasons.

“It’s not going to happen,” Cox said.

A three-way tie for the Pacific League championship has caused a logjam for postseason honors.

With Crescenta Valley, Pasadena Muir and Arcadia each with a share of the title, league coaches elected to give three offensive, defensive and lineman of the year awards.

Quarterback Scott Vossmeyer, who set Crescenta Valley’s season passing record with 2,025 yards, was among the tri-offensive players of the year.

Linebacker Brian Henry of the Falcons was a tri-defensive player of the year, and Rusty Colburn was a tri-lineman of the year.

“The league meeting was long enough as it was,” Coach Alan Eberhart of Crescenta Valley said. “This was the best way.”

Two-way lineman Majdy Haddad of Lancaster has been selected lineman of the year in the Golden League.
