Owners of a Hollywood apartment building were charged Thursday with violating 39 fire, health, building and safety regulations following a special housing task force investigation, according to the Los Angeles city attorney’s office.

Representatives of Hollywood Hudson LLC, which owns the 60-unit apartment building, as well as company official Robert A. Assil, 33, of Santa Monica, must appear in court and answer to the misdemeanor charges on Jan. 12. The charges stem from an inspection of the owner’s four-story apartment building at 6531 Hollywood Blvd.

Prosecutors from the city attorney’s Housing Enforcement Unit claim that the building suffers from damaged fire escapes, sprinklers and smoke detectors and is infested with roaches and rodents. Prosecutors also claim that walls and ceilings are deteriorated, light fixtures and hand rails are missing, plumbing is damaged and trash and debris litter the property.
