San Clemente Wins Big Bear Wrestling Tournament


Five San Clemente wrestlers won individual titles to lead the Tritons to first place with 253 points at the Big Bear tournament Saturday.

Ryan Friedman (125 pounds), Chuck Presley (130), Joe Brady (152), Andy Harrison (171) and Josh Pridham (215) won titles for the ninth-ranked Tritons.

Foothill, the defending champion, finished sixth with 131 points.

In the Valencia wrestling tournament:

No. 2 Villa Park 46, El Dorado 20--The Spartans had five individual champions: Tommy Peralta (119 pounds), Doug Yadon (125), Andrew Fennell (145), Willie Parks (160) and James Benton (heavyweight).


In the Brea Olinda boys’ soccer tournament:

Servite 2, Irvine 1--Jeff Murphy and Mike Feliz each scored, leading Servite (10-2) to the title.

In the Encinitas Torrey Pines tournament:

San Clemente 3, Chula Vista 1--Senior Chris Winrich scored his sixth and seventh goals of the season, setting a school record for career goals with 19. Winrich erased the record set by A.J. Jaramillo in 1998.

In the Claremont tournament:

No. 10 Marina 1, Alta Loma 0--Jessie Chase scored on a free kick from Chelsea Davis to advance Marina (7-2-1) to Monday’s quarterfinals against Arcadia at Cal Poly Pomona.
