Pecorelli Is Just Two Much for Glendale

Share

Lindon Pecorelli scored two goals and assisted on another Thursday and Crescenta Valley High breezed past Glendale, 3-1, in a Pacific League boys’ soccer opener at Glendale.

Pecorelli, who has seven goals and is a member of the U.S. under-18 national pool, was simply too fast and too skilled for the depleted Dynamiters (5-6-3).

The junior midfielder converted a penalty kick in the 19th minute, assisted on Clint Radenbaugh’s header five minutes later and gave the Falcons (7-3-4) a 3-0 lead in the 61st minute on a 40-yard run.

“We kind of watched [Pecorelli] play,” said Coach Loi Phan of Glendale. “I’d tell guys to step up on him but they’d step back and you can’t give him space because he’s like two players by himself.”

Edgar Manvelyan of Glendale scored with nine minutes left.

Buena 1, San Marcos 1--Nathan Ritzu scored on a rebound in the 20th minute to give the host Royals (10-2-5) a tie in a Channel League game.

Ariel Hurtado gave the Bulldogs, ranked No. 2 in the region, the lead when he scored his third goal of the season from six yards in the 18th minute.

Rio Mesa 1, Oxnard 0--David Cervantes scored his 12th goal in the 55th minute of a Pacific View League match at Rio Mesa (9-3-4, 3-1).
