Crescenta Valley 60, Hoover 38--The Falcons outscored the Tornadoes, 17-5, in the first quarter en route to their 34th consecutive Pacific League victory at Hoover.

Kristie Umemoto scored 14 points and Sinnamonn Garrett had 13 points and nine rebounds for Crescenta Valley (15-2, 2-0), ranked No. 2 in the region by The Times.

Saugus 47, Burbank 33--The Centurions rallied from early foul trouble for a Foothill League victory at Saugus.

The Bulldogs (6-10, 1-1) led, 13-1, the first quarter when Brusta Brown and Ornella Grosz were removed after each picked up her second foul.

Saugus (8-7, 2-0) went on a 23-7 run to close out the first half.

Lexi Phelps had 19 points and 10 rebounds for Saugus, and Natalie Avanecy scored 14 points for Burbank.

Simi Valley 53, Royal 37--Jamie Sturdivant had 18 points, eight rebounds, four steals, four assists and sank a half-court shot at the end of the second quarter, and the Pioneers avenged two narrow 1998 defeats in a Marmonte League game at Simi Valley.

Sherrice Gamble had 10 points and 10 rebounds for the Pioneers (14-4, 3-1), ranked No. 6 in the region.

Nordhoff 55, Santa Paula 39--Christen Roper made 12 of 15 shots to finish with 25 points and the Rangers (5-12) won their Frontier League opener at Nordhoff.

Carla Berman had 12 points and Francelia Lucero scored 10 for the Cardinals (8-10, 1-1).

Notre Dame 58, Flintridge Sacred Heart 38--Sierra Hauser-Price scored nine of her 18 points in the first quarter for the Knights in a Mission League victory at Flintridge Sacred Heart.

Denise Spangler had 11 points and 10 rebounds for the Knights (11-8, 2-1), which outscored Flintridge Sacred Heart (3-8, 0-3) in the second quarter, 15-3.

La Reina 53, Carpinteria 50--Cheryl Kruer sank a three-point basket with 1:38 to play to snap a 49-49 tie and put the Regents ahead for good in a Tri-Valley League opener at La Reina.

Lindsay Mettam had 16 points and blocked five shots for the Regents (8-2).

St. Bonaventure 60, Bishop Diego 49--Stacey Howard broke her school record by scoring 40 points, helping the Seraphs (8-7) win a Tri-Valley League opener at Bishop Diego.

Howard, a senior guard, set the record with 39 points against Oak Park last season.
