While there is not much room to profile students from each of these schools, here are two students at smaller schools who have excelled:

* Genevieve Manriquez of Anaheim Heritage Christian High Class valedictorian Genevieve Manriquez has been a Chamber Singers member for three years and president for two, and she has had starring roles in school productions of “Guys and Dolls” and “The Sound of Music.” “I plan to attend college and major in music performance--that being my career objective,” she says. An active volunteer at her church, she participated in a church mission to a Wyoming Indian reservation. She works at Disneyland and hopes to attend Biola University.

* Lesley Mendoza of Anaheim Southern California Christian High With a 4.0 unweighted grade-point average, Lesley Mendoza won honor roll awards freshman through senior year. She will enroll at Cal State Long Beach, majoring in biological sciences with plans to attend medical school and become a pediatrician. She volunteered at Coventry Court Health Center’s activities department, and she co-captained varsity volleyball as a senior. She also was on the yearbook committee for three years and was Associated Student Body vice president.
