Lawson, Smith Fuel Cal Lutheran Sweep

Nick Lawson had four hits in the first game and hit a pinch double in the second game Saturday for Cal Lutheran in a doubleheader sweep of California Christian, 15-6 and 13-4, at Cal Lutheran.

Cal Lutheran (14-4) got a home run in each game from Brad Smith, who drove in four runs.

Chris Tahan pitched two scoreless innings in the first game and had three hits and three runs batted in the second game.

Andy Super (2-0) pitched the final six innings for Cal Lutheran in the second game, allowing one run and striking out eight.

Cal State Northridge 7, Temple 0--Left-hander Andy Davidson (1-1) scattered nine hits and struck out 14 batters for the Matadors in a nonconference victory over Temple at Northridge.

Kevin Patrick had three hits, including his sixth home run, for Northridge (17-13).

Valley 5, Moorpark 4--Jared Mills walked in the winning run in the bottom of the ninth and the Monarchs won a Western State Conference interdivision game at Valley (7-13, 2-4).

Ed Jung of Moorpark drove in two runs, including a run-scoring double in the seventh.

Zach Gordon homered and doubled for Moorpark (14-10, 3-2).

Canyons 19, Santa Barbara 4--Mike Granger had four hits, doubled twice and drove in four runs for the Cougars (9-12, 3-2) in a WSC interdivision game at Canyons.

Canyons blew the game open with five-run outbursts in the fourth and fifth innings.

Jeremy Shields (2-4) allowed two earned runs in six innings and Kevin Hyde pitched three innings of scoreless relief.
