UC Irvine Soccer Team Signs 9 Players

The UC Irvine men’s soccer team, which lost 11 seniors, then was devastated when five other players left, has begun the rebuilding project by signing nine players.

Saul Wolf (Woodbridge High) will transfer from Wake Forest and Brad Aspey (Tempe Corona del Sol High), Ben Bush (Atascadero), Frankie Clay (Corona del Sol), Scott Douglass (Gilbert High), Eric Monterastelli (Skyline Community College), Jesse Peron (Tucson Salpointe High), Gerald Phillips (Altadena High) and Ben Ragel (Phoenix College) have signed letters of intent. Aspey, a defender, is a member of the Arizona Olympic Development program. Bush, a defender, is a member of the California South Olympic Development League.

In other Irvine news, the men’s tennis team has picked up two more players: Fernando Fiuri, who, at 18 is the No. 3 junior player in Argentina and is ranked 18th in the world, and San Marino High’s Zoran Korac, the Ojai singles champion.
