SOUTHERN SECTION BASEBALL PLAYOFFS

Riverside Arlington 12, Highland 8--John Santor had three hits, including a home run, but it wasn’t enough and the Bulldogs (21-6) were beaten at Highland.

Jason Kubel, Jason Allec and Daniel Champieux hit home runs for Highland.

DIVISION III

Norwalk 4, Calabasas 1--Randy Curtis and Zach Sloan each had two hits for Calabasas (13-13).

Host Norwalk scored its runs in the fifth inning.

DIVISION IV

Chaminade 8, Nordhoff 7--Nate Dunlap’s single drove in Erik Johnson with one out in the eighth inning to lift the Eagles at Chaminade (19-8).

Johnson led off the inning with a single and stole second before Dunlap drove him in.

Jim Milkovich singled in Spencer Gordon with two out in the seventh to tie the score, 7-7.

Nordhoff (11-11) scored seven runs in the second inning against three pitchers.

Jason Urquidez (7-3) took over for the Eagles on the mound to start the third inning and held the Rangers without a baserunner the rest of the way, striking out 10.

Paraclete 4, Anaheim Western 1--Travis Billet’s run-scoring single in the 11th inning broke a 1-1 deadlock and helped lift the Spirits (19-7) at Western.

Jason Brown of Paraclete struck out 12 and walked one in 10 innings. He allowed a run in the first inning.

Brian Clark of Western also pitched 10 innings and struck out 12.

Robbie Fockaert, Matt Parris and Dave Brown each had hits apiece for Paraclete.

DIVISION V

L.A. Baptist 8, Crossroads 3--Scott Swenson allowed seven hits and Andrew Petersen had two hits and four RBIs for the Knights L.A. Baptist (16-6).

Petersen hit a two-run triple in the third inning to break a 2-2 tie.

His two-run home run in the fourth gave L.A. Baptist an 8-2 lead.

Swenson (4-0), who had pitched only one inning since injuring his shoulder while lifting weights in late March, struck out four and walked four.

St. Bonaventure 6, Brentwood 4--Gilbert Infante’s two-out, two-run single in the seventh inning won for the Seraphs (13-11) at St. Bonaventure.

Jeff Springgate, Zach Gallagher and Matt White each had two hits for St. Bonaventure.

Lancaster Desert Christian 17, Downey Calvary Chapel 7--Tyler Downie had four hits to lead the Knights (23-1).

DIVISION VI

Grace Brethren 14, Heritage Christian 0--Tim Thompson and Shawn McClain combined on a no-hitter for the Lancers at Grace Brethren (18-3).

Thompson struck out five in three innings and McClain struck out three in two innings.
