In other Mission Conference games:

Fullerton 35, Saddleback 25--Fullerton quarterback Greg Garand completed 10 of 15 passes for a career-high 281 yards, and the Hornets (3-5, 2-1) passed for a season-high 339 yards. Saddleback’s Adam Hoover completed 16 of 29 passes for 272 yards.

Fullerton’s defense sacked Hoover eight times. Matt Gogan ran for a two-yard touchdown with 9:17 left in the game to give Fullerton the lead for good, 28-25.

Garand then sealed the Hornets’ victory with 1:31 left, passing to Antoine Wetherspoon for a 65-yard touchdown. Saddleback is 3-5, 1-2.

The Hornets trailed, 10-7, in the second quarter, but rallied with a touchdown from Gogan, who scored on a two-yard run with 6:27 left to help Fullerton take a 14-10 lead at halftime.

In the third period, Saddleback’s Matt Deter kicked a 22-yard field goal and Damien Minna scored on a 26-yard run to put the Gauchos ahead, 19-14.

Fullerton answered with a touchdown from Jayson Simpson, who scored on a 65-yard pass from Garand with 4:26 left in the third to give Fullerton a 20-19 lead going into the fourth quarter.

Riverside 21, Golden West 19--Visiting Riverside led, 21-7, going into the fourth quarter and the Rustlers could not overcome it, despite rallying with two touchdowns in the last five minutes.

Tim Thurman (six catches, 47 yards) scored on a 10-yard pass from J.D. Stern with 4:27 to play, and Louis Ala scored on a one-yard run with 1:44 left to cut Riverside’s lead to 21-19.

The Tigers (3-5, 2-1) took a 7-0 lead on Lee Harris’ 16-yard touchdown reception from Scott Shepard. Golden West (0-8, 0-3) answered with a touchdown from Thurman, who scored on an eight-yard pass from Anthony Zaragoza that tied the score, 7-7.

Riverside’s Marshall Johnson (seven carries, 85 yards) scored on 24-yard and 53-yard runs, the latter coming with less than three minutes left in the third quarter.

Riverside’s Jason Hill led all rushers with 115 yards in 25 carries. Ala, who gained 81 yards in 20 carries, was the top rusher for Golden West.

Zaragoza completed 11 of 18 pass attempts for 63 yards and one touchdown, and Stern completed five of 10 for 55 yards and one touchdown for the Rustlers.

The Tigers had 263 yards in total offense to Golden West’s 256.

Orange Coast 48, Long Beach 42 (6OT)--Jimmy Banks scored on a 13-yard run in the sixth overtime period to give the host Pirates the victory in the longest game in OCC’s 51-year history.

Sophomore quarterback Jared Flint completed 21 of 37 passes for 345 yards and three touchdowns. Flint became OCC’s all-time career passer during the game, eclipsing Alvin White’s record set in 1971-72. Flint has thrown for 3,650 yards in two seasons. He has 2,105 this year.

Banks rushed for 100 yards in 21 carries and scored three touchdowns, two in overtime.

Wide receiver David Castleton caught six passes for 115 yards and one touchdown.

Halfback Ray Ohrel caught six passes for 106 yards and two scores.

The Pirates (4-4, 2-1) will host Mt. San Antonio at 1 p.m. Saturday.
