Valley 41, Harbor 9--Eric Holtfreter threw three touchdown passes and the Monarchs provided a successful debut for Coach Carl Ferrill in a Western State Conference interdivisional game at Harbor.
Holtfreter, a sophomore, completed 14 of 24 passes for 264 yards. His 57-yard touchdown pass to Vinny Walker gave Valley the lead for good at 7-3 with 11:21 left in the second quarter.
Walker, a sophomore from Monroe High, ran for another score and had 79 yards rushing in 14 carries. He had three receptions for 76 yards.
Valley’s Jerome Riley had six catches for 71 yards, including touchdowns of 19 and 23 yards.
The teams combined for 231 yards in penalties and six turnovers.
