El Toro, ranked second in the county, was supposed to be the physical team, but it was third-ranked Foothill that bullied its way to a 10-7 victory in a nonleague boys’ water polo game Tuesday at El Toro.

“We actually played them six times during the [summer] season and they won five of those games,” said Foothill two-meter man Pat Logan, who scored four goals. “They are physical. But we picked up our intensity and we were not going to be intimidated in this game.’

El Toro senior Trevor McMunn scored 30 seconds into the game, but Foothill quickly got its act together.

“Patience is a key part of the game,” Foothill Coach Jim Brumm said. “But I was happy with the way our team played. We have a ways to go, but it’s looking good.”

Trailing 1-0, Foothill scored three goals as junior Blake Seymour, and seniors Brett Reynolds and Doug Leach scored to make it 3-1 after one quarter.

From that point, the Knights never lost control.

Seymour finished with three goals and Leach had two. Adam Katz, who played goalie the first half for the Knights, had three saves. Teammate Ian Elliot had six saves in the second half.
