On the night of his first football game as athletic director at Chatsworth, Fluke Fluker came to the rescue of a group of cheerleaders.
The cheerleaders yelled for Fluker before the Chancellors’ game against host Alemany last week. They had spotted a foot-long baby California King snake.
“I went to investigate and saw the culprit,” Fluker said. “I grabbed him by the back of his neck, brought it over to the Alemany athletic director, Melissa Hearlihy, and asked about the school hospitality. After she ran 50 yards, she said, ‘Please get rid of the snake.’ ”
Fluker released the snake behind the stands.
“In the Marines, they taught us how to make snake soup, but I didn’t think that was appropriate,” he said.
