Parris’ 3-Hitter Wins for Highland

Matt Parris pitched a three-hitter and Highland High defeated Antelope Valley, 3-1, in a Golden League baseball game Friday at Highland.

Nate O’Malley’s run-scoring double broke a 1-1 tie in the sixth inning for the Bulldogs (9-3, 5-1 in league play).

Parris retired nine of the last 10 hitters and didn’t allow a hit after the fourth. He struck out five.

Lancaster 2, Quartz Hill 1--Tony Ortiz had three hits and the Eagles won a Golden League game at Lancaster. Tyler Bain scattered four hits, struck out five and did not allow an earned run in six innings for Lancaster (8-4, 4-1).

Palmdale 8, Littlerock 2--Matt Harrington (5-0) pitched a one-hitter and struck out nine in six innings for the Falcons in a Golden League game at Littlerock.

Rob Arellano hit a two-run double in a six-run fifth inning for Palmdale (8-3, 4-1).

Simi Valley 7, Royal 3--John Day had two hits, including a two-run double, to help the Pioneers (8-4, 3-2) win a Marmonte League game at Simi Valley.

Thousand Oaks 3, Moorpark 0--Chris Cordeiro pitched a two-hitter with 10 strikeouts in a Marmonte League victory for the Lancers at Thousand Oaks (10-2, 4-1) .

Camarillo 12, Oxnard 1--Jimmy Alstot (4-0) pitched a three-hitter for the Scorpions (9-4, 5-1) in a Pacific View game at Camarillo. Camarillo’s Justin Peterson hit two doubles and Brad Boyer tripled.

Canyon 5, Valencia 4--Justin Wayland had two hits and four runs batted in for the Cowboys (7-4, 3-2) in a Foothill League victory at Canyon. Luis Valasquez hit a two-run home run in the seventh for Valencia (9-3, 2-3).

Glendale 10, Muir 0--Kevin Hickcox pitched a five-inning no-hitter in a game called because of the 10-run rule at Glendale.

Hickcox (1-1) had four strikeouts for Glendale (3-8, 2-3).

Nordhoff 1, Santa Clara 0--David Valencia’s run-scoring double in the second gave the Rangers a Frontier League victory at Santa Clara (2-6, 2-3). Scott Drew pitched a four-hitter and struck out nine for Nordhoff (7-2, 4-1).

Vasquez 4, Mojave 0--Left-hander Drew Pirtle threw a one-hitter with six strikeouts and the Mustangs (6-2-1, 3-1) won a High Desert League game at Vasquez.

Crescenta Valley 11, Hoover 3--John Barbaro hit his seventh home run of the season during a nine-run third for visiting Crescenta Valley (6-4, 4-1) in a Pacific League game.

SOFTBALL

Camarillo 11, Oxnard 0--Meredith Nevard pitched a one-hitter and struck out seven in a Pacific View League victory at Oxnard. Nicki Setton had a home run and a triple for Camarillo (9-3, 5-1).

Calabasas 14, Malibu 0--Amy Rosson pitched a one-hitter and struck out 12 in five innings for the Coyotes (9-3, 4-0) in a Frontier League victory at Malibu.

Highland Hall 14, Le Lycee 4--Connie Smith had four home runs for the Hawks (4-2) at Le Lycee.
