Two weeks ago, Alemany High was stumbling toward its Mission League opener with a losing record.
Much can change in two weeks.
The Indians defeated Notre Dame, 3-0, Wednesday for their fourth consecutive victory and will face Harvard-Westlake next week for first place in the league.
At Notre Dame, Alemany (8-6, 3-0 in league play) got three hits from Katie Yazgulian and two hits each from Kaitlin Reese and Rose Ramirez to support senior right-hander Sarita Contreras (7-5), who pitched a two-hitter.
El Camino Real 14, Granada Hills 0--Christina Enea was three for three with four runs batted in to lead the Conquistadores’ 18-hit attack in a five-inning West Valley League game at El Camino Real. Lily Landers had three hits and Melissa Coogan (10-1) threw a one-hitter.
Chatsworth 5, Taft 0--Cassie Shires pitched a two-hitter, striking out eight, and added a run-scoring triple for the Chancellors in a West Valley League game at Taft (2-8-1, 1-3).
Cleveland 5, Birmingham 0--Laura Demetrion pitched a four-hitter and struck out six for the Cavaliers in a West Valley League victory at Birmingham (5-6, 0-4).
Flintridge Sacred Heart 8, Louisville 1--Laura Miller had three hits, including a run-scoring triple in a five-run seventh for the Tologs (11-4, 1-2) in a Mission League game at Louisville.
