Punchless Hart Gets Rolled by Glendora

Right-hander John Proctor held Hart High to two hits in six innings and Glendora scored a 5-2 victory on Saturday in the Babe Herman tournament at Stengel Field in Glendale.

Proctor struck out four and walked four.

Andy Mohr relieved Proctor in the seventh inning and struck out the side.

The Indians (12-3), ranked No. 2 in the region by The Times, was hitless after the second inning.

Mike Miller hit a run-scoring triple in the second inning and scored on a single by Chris Cagnon to get Hart even, 2-2, but it was all Glendora after that.

Pete Hanson, Matt Graves, Bruce Hatch, Jake Mason and Shane Thompson all had two hits for Glendora (9-4), which collected 12 hits off two Hart pitchers.

Hanson drove in two runs and Graves knocked in one.

Jamie Shields, Hart’s ace and one of the top prospects in the nation who has yet to pitch this season because of a back injury, did not make his long-awaited debut.

He might pitch Monday against Hoover.

Chaminade 4, Agoura 1--Jonathan Higashi doubled and scored during the Eagles’ three-run fifth inning in a nonleague game at Chaminade.

Erik Johnson singled home Higashi.

T.J. Franco (3-1) pitched three innings of one-hit relief with no earned runs and four strikeouts for Chaminade (8-4).

Matt Lieberman had three hits, including a solo home run and a double, for Agoura.

Camarillo 13, University 2--John Gonzalez (6-1) had 10 strikeouts in six innings and Spencer Wyman had a three-run home run, finishing with four runs batted in for the Scorpions (15-4) in a Redondo Union tournament game at University.

Kennedy 16, South Gate 10--Eric Moore hit a three-run home run, one of four for the Golden Cougars in a Redondo Union tournament game at Kennedy.

Phil Avlas hit a three-run home run and had four RBIs for Kennedy (9-7).

Newbury Park 6, Van Nuys 3--Shane Heid had five strikeouts in five innings and Joey Hamer hit a two-run home run for the Panthers in a Redondo Union tournament game at Newbury Park.

Crespi 8-6, Burroughs 2-1--Matt Wilson had two home runs, four RBIs and scored three runs, and Jonathan Oller had a home run, two RBIs and scored three times for the Celts (11-1-1) in the first game of a nonleague doubleheader at Burroughs.
