Thiel Hammers National Record

Amy Thiel of Moorpark College set a national community college record in the women’s hammer throw in the Mt. San Antonio College Relays in Walnut on Friday.

Thiel’s mark of 178-10 beat the record of 178-9 set by Jill Wood of Modesto in 1998.

Thiel, a transfer from Colorado State, won the shotput in 47-3 and the discus in 137-5 for the Raiders.

Angela Foster was second in the shotput at 47-0 1/2 and hammer throw at 161-4 for Moorpark and teammate Melissa McBain won the 1,500 meters in 4:43.42.
