Saddleback Wins Golf Title
Saddleback won the Orange Empire Conference championship in men’s golf for the 17th time in the last 19 years in the conference finals Monday at Singing Hills in El Cajon.
The Gauchos shot a 36-hole total of 21-over 741 to defeat Santa Ana by nine strokes and Golden West by 10. Bob Sauer finished with a one-under 71 for Saddleback and had par 144 for the tournament.
Jeff Greenfield of Golden West, the conference player of the year, and Dave Lauder of Santa Ana shared medalist honors, finishing the tournament at three-under 141.
In OEC softball:
Riverside 6, Santa Ana 5--Wendy Kralich drove in all five Santa Ana runs in the visiting Dons’ loss.
Riverside (23-18, 10-10) scored the winning run in the bottom of the seventh when Sandy Bonner’s infield single drove in Angela Zapata from third.
Kralich had a home run and a triple for Santa Ana (25-14, 14-6).
