Illegal Pitch Results in Victory for Hueneme

Erica Mijares scored from third in the ninth inning on an illegal pitch by Chanel Tripp and Hueneme High defeated Rio Mesa, 1-0, in a Pacific View League softball game Wednesday at Rio Mesa.

Tripp (8-3-1) was cruising entering the ninth, but two errors by Rio Mesa (12-5-1, 6-2) allowed the Vikings to place runners on first and third with none out.

Tripp had seven strikeouts.

Mijares, who reached on an error to lead off the ninth, singled in the first for Hueneme’s only hit.

Bishop Amat 1, Harvard-Westlake 0--Jenna Rojaf scored from third on an error with two out in the seventh inning to give the Lancers (16-5) a nonleague victory at Harvard-Westlake.

Elena Ferrero of Harvard-Westlake (13-3) allowed two hits in five innings.

El Camino Real 8, Cleveland 1--Melissa Coogan pitched a four-hitter and struck out six for the Conquistadores in a West Valley League game at El Camino Real.

Fiona Landers had two RBIs and Jacqui Goodchild had a triple and an RBI for El Camino Real (16-2-1, 8-0).

Cleveland is 13-8, 4-4.

Thousand Oaks 1, Cajon 0--Shawna Lane’s run-scoring single with two out in the sixth inning gave the Lancers third place in the Righetti tournament.

Nicole Angelo (16-3) pitched a three-hitter with three strikeouts and no walks. She was selected to the all-tournament team for Thousand Oaks (16-4-1), ranked No. 2 in the region by The Times.

Westlake 1, Moorpark 0--Codie Richards singled to drive in Tiffany Meadows in the ninth inning of the fifth-place game of the Righetti tournament.

Erin Voeltz (13-6) pitched a one-hitter with seven strikeouts and three walks for Westlake (13-7).

Davis Beck singled with two out in the eighth inning for Moorpark (7-12).

Annie Domenic had two hits for Westlake, ranked No. 8 in the region.

Quartz Hill 15, Palmdale 2--Olaya Salazar had two hits, including a two-run homer, and scored three runs in a Golden League game at Palmdale called after five innings because of the 10-run rule.

Sayoko Rutledge had two hits, including a two-run triple, for Quartz Hill (13-6, 4-1).
