*Mike Gledhill, a 6-foot-6 middle blocker for Taft High, has committed to Pepperdine.

Gledhill, the City Section player of the year last season, chose the Waves over USC because he felt he could play setter in Malibu.

“It came down to where I could see myself more as a setter next year,” said Gledhill, a left-hander. “I’ve got more potential at Pepperdine.”

Gledhill, who led Taft to the City championship last season, also liked the concept of working with Pepperdine interim Coach Jeff Stork, a former setter on the U.S. national team.
