Stanford’s dominance continued at the Ojai Valley Tennis Tournament as three Cardinal players made their way into the semifinals of the Pacific 10 Conference men’s singles division on a soggy second day of play Friday.

Top-seeded junior Alex Kim will play UCLA freshman Jean-Julian Rojer in one semifinal and Stanford senior Geoff Abrams meets sophomore teammate K.J. Hippensteel in the other. Both matches are at 11 a.m. at Libbey Park.

Kim coasted into the semifinals with a 6-1, 6-1 win over UCLA’s Brandon Kramer.

Doubles matches were shortened to eight-game pro sets as rain backed up play in the midafternoon.

On the women’s side, Stanford’s Keiko Tokuda will play Arizona State sophomore Alison Bradshaw and Stanford’s Lauren Kalvaria faces UCLA’s Sara Walker in another semifinal at 11 a.m. The women’s top-seeded player, Stanford’s Laura Granville, was forced to default her quarterfinal match against Tokuda after suffering heat exhaustion Thursday.

UC Irvine will play Pacific in the Big West women’s team championship. Boise State plays UC Irvine and New Mexico State faces Pacific in the men’s event.

In the men’s open division Mark Ellis will play Andrew Cheney and Josh Prager faces Peter Jeschke in the semifinals. Nicole Elliott-Hermann will play Marisa Maclennan and Amy Alcini meets Mary Fallara in the women’s semifinals.
