El Modena 6, Canyon 5--Hans Gleason hit a bases-loaded single in the bottom of the seventh for host El Modena (4-7, 8-13).

No. 1 Villa Park 16, Orange 0 (5, mercy)--Jeff Tuttle hit his sixth home run of the season, and had a double, three RBIs and two runs for Villa Park (21-1, 11-0).

In the Freeway League:

Fullerton 13, La Habra 5--Sophomore Kevin Marino hit a grand slam in the sixth inning, highlighting a four-homer game for host Fullerton (9-10-1, 5-6).

Sunny Hills 13, Buena Park 3--Jeff Jones was five for five with a double, four RBIs and a run for visiting Sunny Hills (12-10, 6-5).

Troy 3, Sonora 2--Luis Bernal made two diving catches with runners on first and second to preserve the victory for visiting Troy (6-14, 4-7).

In the Garden Grove League:

No. 3 La Quinta 9, Bolsa Grande 4--Freshman Ian Kennedy allowed one earned run on four hits with five strikeouts in five innings to earn the victory for visiting La Quinta (22-2, 8-1).

In the Golden West League:

Ocean View 3, Saddleback 2--Junior Tyler Kreil (4-5) struck out 11 and gave up five hits for host Ocean View (9-12-2, 5-4).

Tustin 4, Westminster 1--Ivan Ramirez pitched a three-hitter with eight strikeouts for host Tustin (13-7-2, 8-1), which took sole possession of first place. Westminster (11-9, 7-2) fell into second place.

In the Sea View League:

Woodbridge 9, Newport Harbor 7--Brian Beck homered, drove in two runs and picked up his first save for the visiting Warriors (10-8, 6-5).

In South Coast League:

Capistrano Valley 2, El Toro 1 (8)--Jeff Scuderi scored from third base on a wild pitch by Eric Walsh to secure the victory for visiting Capistrano Valley (14-8, 7-4).

Walsh pitched a one-hitter, striking out eight in the loss for El Toro (11-10, 5-6).

No. 4 Trabuco Hills 9, Mission Viejo 6--Brian Byrne had a double, single and three RBIs for host Trabuco Hills (17-5, 9-2).

In the Sunset League:

Edison 6, No. 5 Esperanza 1--Glenn Hedgepeth was three-for-four with a double and an RBI for visiting Edison (11-10-1, 4-7).

Brett Miller doubled in the only run for Esperanza (15-6, 7-4).

Los Alamitos 7, No. 2 Fountain Valley 6--Tad Shimada ended Fountain Valley’s two-run rally in the seventh when he threw out a runner at home from right field to end the game. Shimada finished with two hits, two RBIs and two runs for host Los Alamitos (12-10, 7-4), which moved into a three-way tie for first with Esperanza and Fountain Valley.
