Quarterfinalists determined--The quarterfinals begin at 9:30 a.m. today at Marina High when Cypress plays Long Beach Millikan and Tustin plays Esperanza. In the 11 a.m. quarterfinals, Mater Dei plays Dana Hills and Marina plays San Marcos.

Three of the remaining teams are ranked in the top 10 in Orange County: Top-ranked Mater Dei is 15-0-1; No. 8 Dana Hills is 9-1-2; and No. 9 Esperanza is 10-1-1. Unranked Marina is 9-1-3.

The teams advanced to the quarterfinals with two victories on Wednesday at Marina.

Cypress defeated Ocean View and Loara. Tustin beat Esperanza on penalty kicks and University, 2-0. Pacifica beat Huntington Beach, 2-1, and Fullerton.

No. 8 Dana Hills advanced when Westminster forfeited and then went on to defeat Santa Ana, 1-0.

Forrest Smith scored in the 12th minute to give Dana Hills (9-1-2) the victory.

Marina and Bellflower were tied, 3-3, but Brett Landry’s penalty kick lifted the Vikings to a 5-4 shootout victory. Billy Searls, J.T. Searls and Landry scored in the game; Robert Dorrough and John Asher were credited with assists.

Dorrough and Michael Gorem scored for Marina in the victory over San Clemente. J.T. Searls and Drew Dominesy had assists.
