Grant Finishes Unbeaten in Sunset Six Play

Alexis Weatherspoon scored 24 points and Grant High School defeated North Hollywood, 78-28, in a Sunset Six League girls’ basketball game on Friday at Grant.

The Lancers (19-6, 10-0) won for the 12th consecutive time.

Grant defeated North Hollywood (16-9, 7-3) twice in the same season for the first time and also concluded its first undefeated league season since the program was started in 1974.

Krystal Clay had 18 points, 16 rebounds and four steals for Grant.

Kaipresha Price scored 10 points and was the only North Hollywood player in double figures.

The Huskies played their second game without leading scorer Richelle Sherman, who was found academically ineligible earlier this week.

Kennedy 48, Reseda 33--Jevay Grooms had 18 points, 21 rebounds, 14 blocked shots and seven steals for the Golden Cougars (15-7, 9-1) in a Valley Mission League victory at Reseda.

Grooms scored all 12 points for Kennedy (15-7, 9-1) in the first quarter, and fouled out with five minutes left.

Monroe 55, Sylmar 36--Rasheeda Gray had 15 points and Shakaria Jones added 13 points for the Vikings (18-7, 8-2) in a Valley Mission League victory at Monroe.

Newbury Park 65, Thousand Oaks 37--Rachel Hever scored 13 points and the Panthers (22-4, 12-0), ranked No. 4 in the region by The Times, won a Marmonte League game at Newbury Park.

Paraclete 49, Village Christian 27--Jackie Kolesar had 16 points, 12 rebounds and five steals to lead the host Spirits (18-7) to victory in the championship game of the Alpha League tournament.

Erika Hernandez had 16 points and 11 rebounds for Paraclete, which tied Village Christian (12-13) for the league title in the regular season.

Nordhoff 67, Calabasas 34--Claire Gardner scored eight of her 16 points in the third quarter to help the host Rangers (10-17) to victory in the Frontier League third-place playoff game.

Dunn 46, Cornerstone Christian 30--Katina Bartolone had eight points and 12 rebounds for Cornerstone Christian in a Condor League game. Kelsey Parisi added 10 points for the Eagles (8-11, 4-7).
