Woodbridge Wraps Up League Title
Danny Lambert scored 10 points and Doug Koeller had nine as Woodbridge clinched the Sea View League boys’ basketball title with a 75-40 victory over Irvine Friday at Woodbridge.
Jon Tilton had five points and seven assists for the Warriors (18-8, 7-1 in league).
Jorian Guinn scored 12 points for Irvine (5-20, 0-8).
In another Sea View League game:
No. 9 Newport Harbor 60, Aliso Niguel 50--Dustin Illingworth had 24 points and 14 rebounds for host Newport Harbor (17-8, 6-2), which finished second.
In the Academy League:
St. Margaret’s 65, Fairmont 64 (OT)--Kevin Krouse made a free throw in the closing seconds for St. Margaret’s and teammate Ibraham Marouf scored four of the Tartans’ seven points in overtime. Edward Ortega made two free throws with four seconds remaining in regulation for St. Margaret’s (14-9, 9-3), sending the game into overtime tied at 58.
William Washington scored 23 points for Fairmont (10-12, 5-7).
In the Century League:
No. 3 Villa Park 59, Santa Ana Valley 39--Austin Beardsey had 13 points and Tony Bryant had 10 for the visiting Spartans (24-2, 10-0). Alex Cervantes and Alex Landa had eight points each for Santa Ana Valley (9-17, 1-9).
Canyon 64, Orange 44--Jamal Taylor had 20 points and Darryl Parker had 17 rebounds for the visiting Comanches (14-10, 7-3). Blake Dodge scored 13 points for Orange (5-20, 2-8).
Foothill 89, El Modena 54--Chad Bigler had 25 points and Roger Hogan had 17 points and 15 assists for the visiting Knights (13-12, 7-3). Brock Kyler scored 15 for El Modena (12-12, 4-6).
In the Freeway League:
Fullerton 56, Sunny Hills 48--Daniel Fells scored 17 points for Fullerton (18-7, 6-5), which finished third. Sunny Hills (14-13, 5-6) got 22 points from Tony Gonzalez.
In the Golden West League:
No. 2 Ocean View 76, Tustin 57--Marques Crane had 15 points and Ryan Westbrook had seven points and seven assists for visiting Ocean View (25-2, 8-0).
In the Orange League:
No. 10 Brea Olinda 77, Valencia 59--Ryan Wilber had 28 points and Landon Lewis scored 16 for the visiting Wildcats (20-6, 9-1), who made 25 of 27 free throws. Emmanuel Ortega scored 24 for Valencia (12-14, 6-4).
In the South Coast League:
No. 7 El Toro 61, Dana Hills 42--Ashken Nazeri had 17 points for the visiting Chargers (22-4, 10-0). Andrew Spaulding scored 10 for Dana Hills (6-20, 0-10).
Mission Viejo 86, San Clemente 60--Mykel Valentine had 19 points for host Mission Viejo (12-14, 3-7). James Hartman had 17 points, including four three-pointers, for San Clemente (5-5 in league).
In Academy League girls’ basketball:
Connelly 48, Capistrano Valley Christian 43--Jamie Poon scored 22 points for Connelly (10-10, 7-5). Bethany Thom scored 17 for Capistrano Valley Christian (17-6, 10-2).
St. Margaret’s 58, Fairmont 47--Monique Kettler had 27 points, 22 rebounds and nine blocked shots for host St. Margaret’s (8-11, 6-6). Sonia Hilson scored 16 points for Fairmont (13-7, 6-6).
In the Century League:
No. 8 Foothill 45, El Modena 23--Chavaughn Brown scored 13 points and Kristen Mann and Kelsi Sousa each had 12 for visiting Foothill (19-7, 10-0).
Santa Ana Valley 68, Villa Park 60--Crystal Davis had 16 points and 13 rebounds and Ashley Hebert had 15 points and seven assists for the host Falcons (17-7, 6-4). Lauren Yadon scored 27 for Villa Park (15-10, 7-3).
In the Sunset League:
Marina 59, Huntington Beach 54--Miranda Emde scored 24 points in the third-place playoff game, clinching a playoff berth for Marina (18-9, 6-5).
