Camarillo (10-16) finished last in the five-team Pacific View League with a 1-7 record, but no team played first-place Oxnard tougher than the Scorpions.
While Oxnard (22-4, 8-0) posted victories of 75-32 over Rio Mesa, 67-32 over Channel Islands and 76-53 over Hueneme in league play, the Yellowjackets beat Camarillo by scores of 64-56 in their first meeting and 66-59 in their second.
Camarillo’s problem in league was an inability to win close games.
The Scorpions were 1-6 in games decided by eight points or less.
