* The Master’s College men’s team is ranked No. 10 in the NAIA Division I poll.

The Mustangs have won 11 consecutive games and are 14-2 entering play this week.

Georgetown (Ky.) (13-0) is ranked No. 1.

Azusa Pacific (9-2) is ranked No. 7, Biola (8-2) is No. 14 and Westmont (7-2) is No. 23.

TENNIS

* No. 7-seeded Lester Cook of Calabasas upset second-seeded Nathan Price of Tulsa, Okla., 6-4, 6-7 (7-4), 7-5, in a quarterfinal match Tuesday in the boys’ 18 singles division of the Copper Bowl 2000 tournament at El Conquistador Country Club in Tucson, Ariz.

Third-seeded Ryan Heinberg of Agoura Hills advanced to the boys’ 18 semifinals with a 4-6, 7-6 (7-3), 6-3 victory over fifth-seeded Kean Feeder of Portland, Ore.

Brian Wilson of San Marcos, top-seeded in the boys’ 18s, defeated Amir Marandy of Woodland Hills, 6-1, 6-0.

No. 14-seeded Georgette Wright of Burbank upset No. 4-seeded Kelly Baritot of Weyford, Pa., 3-6, 7-5, 6-4, and advanced to the girls’ 16 semifinals.

Unseeded Sam Querrey of Thousand Oaks eliminated No. 4-seeded Nathaniel Schnugg of Medford, Ore., 6-3, 3-6, 6-2, in the boys’ 12 division.

SOCCER

* Jose Melgoza, a senior midfielder for Cal Lutheran who played at Buena High, was selected second team All-American by the National Soccer Coaches Assn. of America.

Melgoza led the Kingsmen with 18 points and tied for most goals with six.

He was chosen to the All-Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and All-West Region teams.
