When Westlake High’s offense struggled for the second consecutive game, forward Sara Silver-Hill was there to turn things around.

Silver-Hill’s second half goals lifted Westlake past Agoura, 2-0, in a Marmonte League game at Agoura.

Westlake (12-2-2, 5-1 in league play) moved into a tie for first place with Agoura (10-3, 5-1).

“We needed to win this game,” Silver-Hill said. “It was such a relief to get a goal in. We knew once we scored we would be able to get the momentum.”

After hand-ball against Agoura gave the Warriors a free kick on the top of the 18-yard box, Silver-Hill bent her free kick over the Agoura defensive wall and into the upper left hand corner of the goal.

“The only thing on my mind was keeping it on frame and making it a strong shot,” said Silver-Hill, whose goal gave her team a 1-0 lead in the 69th minute. “I knew if I could get it past their players I had a very good chance of scoring it.”

Silver-Hill scored in the 78th minute on a rebound of Jenna Ainsworth’s shot.

Agoura only took three shots in the game, but one, if not for a little bad luck, could have scored when Jennifer Graham’s bending shot from 25 yards beat goalkeeper Katie Peck but hit the post.

Westlake did not allow Agoura a shot until the 65th minute.
