Ventura 75, Santa Margarita 46--Sophomore reserve Jenni Dooley scored 19 points, including five three-point baskets, for Ventura at the Chino tournament at Ayala High.

Kristine Gleisberg had 14 points, nine rebounds and four blocked shots, and Alex Gientke had 13 points, eight rebounds and four steals for the Cougars (20-1), ranked No. 25 in the nation and No. 2 in The Times’ regional poll.

Colleen O’Leary scored 18 points on six three-pointers for Santa Margarita (17-4), ranked No. 1 in Southern Section Division II-A.

BOYS’ BASKETBALL

Notre Dame 82, Loyola 70--Michael Luderer had 29 points and seven assists, and Cody Pearson had 26 points, 15 rebounds and eight assists for the Knights (17-5, 6-2) in a Mission League victory at Notre Dame.

Notre Dame, ranked No. 7 in the region by The Times, outscored Loyola (8-12, 3-5), 50-36, in the second and third quarters.

MEN’S BASKETBALL

Hancock 76, Moorpark 71--Dan Galvanoni scored 24 points and O.J. Thomas added 15 for Moorpark (18-7, 3-2) but the Raiders were upset by host Hancock (6-19, 2-3) in a Western State Conference Northern Division game.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL

Ventura 67, Cuesta 17--Renae Hofmann had 11 points for Ventura (28-0, 7-0) in a Western State Conference Northern Division game at Cuesta.

COLLEGE BASEBALL

USC 7, Pepperdine 3--Austin Evans and Duke Sardinha combined for four of the Waves’ seven hits, but USC’s Mark Prior limited Pepperdine to five hits and one run over seven innings in a nonconference opener for both teams at Pepperdine.

Anthony Lunnetta went five for five with two RBIs for USC, ranked No. 11 nationally.
