Silvestre Chosen MVP of California All-Stars

Lancaster outfielder Juan Silvestre was selected most valuable player for the California League on Tuesday in the California/Carolina League All-Star Game in Kinston, N.C.

Silvestre had two run-scoring singles, each giving the California all-stars the lead. He gave California leads of 3-2 in the sixth inning and 4-3 in the eighth.

Carolina scored twice in the ninth to win, 5-4.

Four pitchers combined on a three-hitter and Lancaster edged the Lake Elsinore Storm, 3-2, in a California League game Thursday night at the Lake Elsinore Diamond.

Allan Ulloa (3-2) allowed one hit and struck out five in six innings for the JetHawks (41-31). Brandon Parker pitched a hitless ninth inning and picked up his 17th save.

Willie Bloomquist had two hits, including his 11th double, and scored two runs.

Lake Elsinore is 36-35.

Former Thousand Oaks High shortstop Jack Wilson was named most valuable player of the double-A Texas League/Mexican League All-Star Game on Tuesday after going two for four with a triple and RBI in the Texas League’s 3-0 victory in Monterrey, Mexico.

On Sunday, the Texas League won the opener of the two-game series, 12-2, in El Paso.

Outfielder Eric Cole, formerly of Antelope Valley High and Antelope Valley College, led all batters in the series with five hits in nine at-bats.
