St. Margaret’s won the Academy League with a 9-1 record and scored nonleague victories over Orange and Orange Lutheran, but the Tartars weren’t expected to get past the first round of the Division V playoffs. They upset third-seeded Palos Verdes Chadwick, 4-2, in the quarterfinals behind Erik Hallenbeck’s two goals, then beat Lebec Frazier Mountain, 1-0, in the semifinals. “We didn’t think we’d be here and I don’t think we’ve realized it yet,” said St. Margaret’s Coach Martin Lippens. “I just hope we don’t wake up.”
