In other nonleague games:

No. 6 La Quinta 10-10, Cabrillo 0-0 (both 5, mercy)--Freshman pitcher Ian Kennedy (3-0) threw a no-hitter for five innings in the first game for host La Quinta (8-0).

Kennedy struck out 12, and left-handed sophomore Mike McKeran gave up one hit and walked one in four innings of the second game for the Aztecs.

Kennedy had five hits, eight RBIs, including three doubles in both games. Freshman Ian Stewart had seven hits and seven RBIs for La Quinta, including three doubles and a three-run home run in the first inning of the second game.

Edison 4-9, San Clemente 3-1--Senior pitcher/shortstop Glenn Hedgpeth was four-for-six in the doubleheader. He hit a home run and was the winning pitcher in the first game and picked up a save in the second. Steve Henderson of Edison hit a home run in the second game and was two-for-four.

Long Beach Jordan 4-5, Bolsa Grande 2-12--Senior Victor Perales of Bolsa Grande had 10 strikeouts, no walks and gave up one earned run through six innings in the first game of a doubleheader.

Bolsa won big in the second game as junior shortstop Alex Guadarrama had a double, walked four times and scored three runs. He also stole home.

Tustin 5, Palos Verdes Peninsula 3--Ivan Ramirez came on in the seventh inning with two runners on base and struck out two to save the game for Tustin. Senior second baseman Dan Hippert hit a home run, his third of the season, in the sixth.

Capistrano Valley 12, Corona Santiago 6--Capistrano Valley (5-3) hit four home runs, including two from Travis Becktal and one each from Jeff Scuderi and Scott Cheo. Mike Davis (2-0) got the win for the Cougars and Frank McLaughlin pitched the last two innings to pick up his first save.

Garden Grove 7-13, Santa Ana 3-8--Right-hander Matt Crippen, pitching with a broken left wrist, threw four innings of relief to pick up the win in the second game for Garden Grove (5-3-1). The Argonauts’ David Pines had six hits in the doubleheader, going three-for-three in the second game. Crippen broke his wrist in two places last week after colliding with another player.

In the Christian Center Academy tournament:

Capistrano Valley Christian 8, Downey Calvary Chapel 1--Thomas Grove struck out 11 and gave up six hits for Capistrano Valley Christian (4-1) in the championship game.
