Fullerton’s Clark Finishes OCC With Complete Game

Bryan Clark, who retired 14 consecutive batters during one stretch, pitched the first complete game of the season for Fullerton, as the Hornets defeated Orange Coast, 6-3, in an Orange Empire Conference baseball game Saturday at Fullerton.

Clark improved to 5-2.

Trailing, 1-0, the Hornets rallied with a four-run sixth inning, including a two-run home run by shortstop Eddie Romprey, his second of the season. Jimmy Zurn had an inside-the-park home run for Fullerton (10-14, 3-7).

Orange Coast is 8-15, 2-9.

In other Orange Empire Conference baseball games:

Cypress 6, Riverside 3--Sal DeAnda had three hits, including a double, stole a base and drove in a run for host Cypress. Ray Aguilar (5-1) struck out seven, giving up five hits in six innings, and Brandon Luna picked up his sixth save of the season for Cypress (19-4, 6-4).

Santa Ana 3, Saddleback 1--Jeremy Weinberg (6-1) struck out five, walked one and gave up 10 hits in his first complete game of the season for Santa Ana.

Nick Harvey had two hits, including a run-scoring double, for Santa Ana (21-2-1, 10-2).

Josh Ahart had a double and a home run for Saddleback (14-8, 4-7).

In a continuation of a game called because of darkness on March 2, Aaron Escobedo doubled home Harvey with one out in the 15th for an 11-10 Santa Ana victory.

In the Saddleback women’s diving pentathlon:

Bradford wins--Saddleback’s Tiffany Bradford took first place in the combined one- and three-meter diving events with a score of 339.40 points. Bradford scored 159.50 in the one meter and 179.90 in the three meter.
