Fill-In Proves Fine as Mater Dei Wins

Share

With the county’s top pitcher taking a rest, Marissa Becerra filled in nicely for Mater Dei teammate Tia Bollinger, pitching her first complete game for a 1-0 softball victory over Glendora St. Lucy’s Thursday.

Becerra struck out four and gave up two hits. Her victory in the unbeaten Monarchs’ 18th game was only the second by a pitcher other than Bollinger.

The Monarchs scored in the top of the seventh when Kristin Jones singled, driving in Molly McLean. Allison Solis had two hits for Mater Dei.
