* Top assistant Chris Walker has left Pepperdine to become an assistant at Villanova, his alma mater.

Walker was an assistant under Jan van Breda Kolff at Vanderbilt before both came to Pepperdine before the 1999-2000 season.

John D’Agostin has been hired as girls’ basketball coach at Westlake.

D’Agostin was 21-28 the last two seasons as coach at Burbank.

BOXING

* Rolando Reyes of Oxnard stopped Diago Caneko of Japan 1:23 into the fourth round of a scheduled eight-round lightweight main event Tuesday night at Sagebrush Cantina in Calabasas.

MISCELLANY

* Matt Emole, a three-sport athlete at Newbury Park High, will return home from the hospital today, nine months after the automobile accident that shattered vertebrae in his neck and left him a quadriplegic.

Emole plans to attend Moorpark College for one year before transferring to USC, which awarded him a full scholarship.
