Titans Open Softball Regional Against Texas
Big West Conference champion Cal State Fullerton was assigned to the NCAA softball regional at Fresno State when pairings were announced Sunday.
The Titans (44-13) were seeded second behind host Fresno State (51-12) in the double-elimination tournament that begins Thursday. Fullerton will face fifth-seeded Texas (29-25-1) in the opening round. Fullerton interim Coach Michelle Gromacki and Texas Coach Connie Clark were teammates on Fullerton’s 1986 national championship team.
Defending champion UCLA (39-11-1) is top-seeded in its six-team regional and plays host to Canisius Thursday at Easton Stadium. Long Beach State (39-21) was sent to UCLA as the third-seeded team and will face fourth-seeded Florida State (48-25).
Top-ranked Washington (56-7) and No. 2-ranked Arizona (53-7) will host regionals. The tournament continues through Sunday.
