Too many errors, Coach Bob Lofrano said, did in Pierce College at one of two Southern California junior college baseball regionals last weekend.
“That was my biggest disappointment,” Lofrano said. “But there’s no looking back, no complaints.”
Pierce committed four errors in a 19-4 loss to host Santa Ana on Friday and two in a 10-8 loss to Cypress on Saturday, the coup de grace for the Brahmas in the double-elimination tournament.
Lofrano said mistakes against the traditionally strong Orange County teams are especially costly.
“When you open the door, they go right through it,” he said.
The losses ended another successful season for the Brahmas (26-15), who won the Western State Conference Southern Division title and reached the regional finals for the fourth time under Lofrano.
