PREP VOLLEYBALL PLAYOFFS

In Division I:

Newport Harbor 3, Manhattan Beach Mira Costa 0--Billy Clayton had 27 kills and two blocks and Dustin Illingworth had nine kills and nine blocks to lead the unseeded Sailors (17-4) past fourth-seeded Mira Costa, 15-11, 15-13, 15-12, at Redondo Union High.

Newport Harbor advanced to the final to play third-seeded Corona del Mar.

The Sailors trailed in Game 3, 12-4, but scored the final 11 points led by the Stanford-bound Clayton, who had 13 kills in the game.

Jason Spratt had 15 kills and Mike Gevertz added 12 for Mira Costa (22-7).

In a Division III semifinal:

Santa Ynez 3, Whittier Christian 0--Santa Ynez got one step closer to winning its fifth section title in six seasons, ousting Whittier Christian, 15-7, 15-7, 15-9, at Solvang Elementary School. Charlie Witt had 21 kills for Santa Ynez (22-1). Whittier Christian finished 22-7.
