SEASON AT A GLANCE: Morgan has run the four fastest times in the state in the 110-meter high hurdles, topped by a pair of 13.94 clockings in the FloJo Memorial Arcadia Invitational at Citrus College on April 8. In addition, he has run 10.72 in the 100, 39.52 in the 300 intermediate hurdles and leaped 23-3 1/4 in the long jump.

WEEK AT A GLANCE: Morgan won the high hurdles in 14.07 and the long jump in 22-9 1/2, placed second in the 100 in 10.72 and finished fourth in the intermediate hurdles in 40.30 in the City Section championships at Birmingham to lead Taft to its first boys’ title since 1987. “I wasn’t worried about marks,” Morgan said. “I was only concerned about scoring as many points as I could.”

Jessica Cosby

SCHOOL: Cleveland

YEAR: Senior

SPORT: Track and field

SEASON AT A GLANCE: Cosby started slowly after undergoing arthroscopic surgery last June to repair a torn anterior cruciate ligament in her left knee. But she set a City Section record of 48-6 1/4 to finish second in the FloJo Memorial Arcadia Invitational on April 8 and set a meet record of 48-6 to win her fourth consecutive City title at Birmingham on Thursday.

WEEK AT A GLANCE: Cosby became the first athlete to win four consecutive titles in any event in the City championships and helped Cleveland to a third-place finish behind Taft and Birmingham. Cosby, who has signed with UCLA, defeated second-place Serena Boykin of Dorsey by more than eight feet and had an average margin of victory of 5-8 1/4 in the City finals.
