Valencia’s Perales Wins Orange League Golf Title

Senior Jennifer Perales of Valencia won the Orange League individual girls’ golf title Thursday with a combined score of 25-over-par 133 at Dad Miller, Alta Vista and Los Coyotes golf courses.

Perales, who had the lowest round all three days, won the title by 19 strokes.

In Century League girls’ volleyball:

Foothill 3, Villa Park 0--Amanda Smith had 17 kills and Rachel Dalitz had 34 assists for Foothill (14-2, 10-0), which won its fourth consecutive league title with the 11-15, 15-5, 15-7, 15-5 victory.

In the Empire League:

Cypress 3, Katella 2--Kristy Schmitz had 19 kills and Amanda Rodriguez added 18 as Cypress won, 16-14, 9-15, 15-7, 11-15, 17-15. Cypress finished second in league with a 7-3 record, 9-7 overall.

In the Sea View League:

No. 3 Irvine 3, Woodbridge 0--Irvine junior Olivia Waldowski had seven kills, three aces and five blocks to lead Irvine to a 15-7, 15-4, 15-5 victory. The victory clinched the Sea View League title for the Vaqueros.

No. 8 Newport Harbor 3, Aliso Niguel 0--Claire Allen had six kills for visiting Newport Harbor (13-9, 6-2), which won, 15-11, 15-5, 15-11. Ashley Griggs had 11 kills for Aliso Niguel (10-8, 2-6). Newport Harbor finished league play 6-2, 13-9 overall.

In the Sunset League:

Los Alamitos 3, No. 4 Huntington Beach 2--Drue Wawrzynski had 23 kills and 32 digs for Los Alamitos, which avenged an earlier loss to Huntington Beach with a 15-13, 14-16, 15-10, 8-15, 15-13 win. Sara Kroneberger had 20 kills Meghan Goria had 18 kills for the Griffins (12-8, 7-3), who finished league in third place.

In nonleague volleyball:

No. 2 Mater Dei 3, Long Beach Wilson 1--Breegan Mulligan had 11 kills and Whitney Pavlik had 10 kills for visiting Mater Dei in a 13-15, 15-13, 15-2, 15-10 victory.

In Orange League boys’ water polo:

Brea Olinda 16, Western 8--Chris Becher scored five goals and Rory Nelson added four for Brea Olinda (17-10, 8-0).
