Van Nuys 7, Monroe 0--Abel Pulido returned an interception 54 yards to the Monroe three in the first quarter and Eddie Kirakosian ran for the score on the next play at Monroe.
Defensive lineman Kenneth Riley and linebacker Scott Hart stopped Monroe running back Jason Hovespian at the Van Nuys one on the final play to preserve the victory.
Monroe (1-8, 1-3) limited Van Nuys to 43 yards, but squandered six scoring opportunities inside the Van Nuys 20.
Van Nuys (1-8, 1-3), which survived two turnovers inside its own 30 in the final five minutes, intercepted three passes.
Steve Beltran of Monroe completed seven of 20 passes for 101 yards. Hovespian had 73 yards in 18 carries.
Monroe finished with 261 yards.
