Tyler Ebell rushed for 365 yards and four touchdowns to become only the eighth player in state history to top the 3,000-yard plateau in a season, and Ventura High routed Santa Barbara, 42-8, in a Channel League game Friday night at Santa Barbara.

Ebell, a senior who made a commitment to UCLA this week, had scoring runs of 58, five, 31 and 34 yards--his final scoring run putting him over 3,000.

Ebell’s season total stands at 3,102 yards. Jermaine Marshall, who rushed for 3,586 yards for Kilpatrick last season, holds the state single-season record.

“Cool!” he said.

Ventura (8-1, 3-1 in league play) built a 28-0 halftime lead. Ebell also had a 62-yard touchdown run nullified by a clipping penalty.

Ebell has 43 rushing touchdowns this season, three shy of the Southern Section regular-season record held by David Dotson of Moreno Valley Valley View.

Ventura had 464 rushing yards.

Santa Barbara’s Nick Solakian rushed for 66 yards in 11 carries. The Dons (2-7, 1-2) got their only score on a one-yard sneak by Matthew Huff with 1:28 to play.
