Game of the Week
Edison (8-1, 4-0) vs. Esperanza (8-1, 4-0)
7 p.m., Thursday, Huntington Beach High
The long-awaited clash between these Sunset League heavyweights is finally here. The victor will capture its first league title in quite some time; No. 2 Edison hasn’t won the league since 1990, No. 1 Esperanza since 1997. This should be a high-scoring affair, with Esperanza running back Temitope Sonuyi and his Edison counterpart, Darryl Poston, gaining huge chunks of yardage at a time. In evenly matched games like this, the team that makes the fewest mistakes usually wins.
