Moorpark’s 24-10 loss to Valley on Saturday allowed Canyons and Hancock back in the WSC Northern Division title race.

All three are 4-1 and tied for first place in the division.

Moorpark and Hancock could settle matters in the regular-season finale in Santa Maria on Nov. 18. Canyons defeated Hancock and lost to Moorpark.

With two games remaining, Canyons (7-1) and Hancock (6-2) are guaranteed to finish with winning records and qualify for bowl games. Moorpark needs a victory over Glendale on Saturday or against Hancock to qualify.

With a 54-10 victory over Santa Barbara on Saturday, Canyons (7-1) has scored 50 points or more in three games this season.

Only San Francisco, the state’s top-ranked team, has scored that many points four times.

The Rams (8-0) have the most points scored in a game this season in the state, defeating Siskiyous, 69-21, on Sept. 30.

In defeating Pierce, 66-14, on Oct. 7, Canyons scored the most points in a WSC game since Bakersfield beat Pierce, 69-6, on Nov. 1, 1997.

There have been 39 games this season in the state in which the winning team scored 50 points or more, including three games in which the losing team scored at least that many.

In Glendale’s 58-15 loss at Hancock on Saturday, the Vaqueros allowed the most points since losing to Cerritos, 58-0, in 1958.

The most points allowed by Glendale in a game came in a 61-21 loss to Compton in 1949.
