Pepperdine Rolls Over L.A. Stars, 90-70

David Lalazarian scored 23 points and Kelvin Gibbs added 19 points and 11 rebounds for Pepperdine in a 90-70 men’s basketball victory over the L.A. Stars in an exhibition game on Tuesday night at Pepperdine.

Lalazarian made four of eight shots, including two of four three-point shots, and sank 13 of 15 free throws.

Gibbs was seven of 10 from the floor and five of six from the line.

Brandon Armstrong and reserve Derrick Anderson each scored 14 for Pepperdine, which forced 14 turnovers.

Leslie Bean scored 16 points for the Stars.

MEN’S SOCCER

Moorpark 1, Hancock 0--Erik Neri scored in the 43rd minute for the Raiders (5-7-6, 3-3-4) in a Western State Conference victory at Moorpark.

WOMEN’S GOLF

Southern California Regional--Sandy Jocoy of Moorpark shot a five-over 77 and finished second at Menifee Lakes Country Club.

Jocoy finished at 75-77--152 and advanced to the state junior college championships at the Monterey Country Club in Palm Desert on Tuesday.

Russamee Gullyanamitta of Cypress won with 75-74--149.

Susan Latch of Canyons was third at 81-74--155, leading the Cougars to a runner-up finish behind Mt. San Antonio.

WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL

Canyons def. Citrus, 15-6, 15-8, 16-18, 15-9--Teri Castrellon had 20 kills and 10 digs, and Kelli Stien added 61 assists for the Cougars (16-5, 7-0) in a WSC Southern Division match at Canyons.

UCLA def. Pepperdine, 15-12, 15-13, 15-1--Jennifer Fopma had eight kills and four blocks, and Melissa Plass had 29 assists and 11 digs, but the Waves (20-5) lost a nonconference match at UCLA.

CS Northridge def. UC Riverside, 15-3, 19-17, 15-9--Jennifer McNees had 15 kills and the Matadors (15-8) outhit the Highlanders, .155-.041, in a nonconference match at Northridge.
