Rustlers Close In on Another State Title

Three-time defending state champion Golden West moved a step closer to another women’s water polo title Saturday by defeating Orange Coast, 8-5, in the Southern California Regional championship game at Mt. San Antonio College.
The Rustlers (33-1) enter Friday’s state championship opener at Mt. SAC as the top-seeded team.
Anna Korobova scored three goals and Ashleigh May two for Golden West. Nesha Hoagland scored three goals for Orange Coast (27-7-1).
In the Southern California Regional men’s water polo championship:
Golden West 11, Cuesta 4--The Rustlers (30-2) won their fifth consecutive regional championship. Kevin Marsh scored six goals and Julian Gonzalez two for Golden West, which led 8-2 at halftime.
In the Saddleback men’s basketball tournament:
Saddleback 68, Cerritos 56--Mark Brown had 20 points, Adrian Aguayo scored 12 and Mike Donegan had 10 rebounds to lead host Saddleback, which faces Riverside in the final at 4 p.m. today.
