Banning 34, L.A. Baptist 27--The Knights squandered a 27-8 halftime lead, allowing 26 unanswered second-half points at Nicolet Middle School in Banning.

Banning (6-5) opened the second half with an 82-yard kickoff return for a touchdown by David Williams, starting the onslaught.

The Broncos took the lead for good, 28-27, early in the fourth quarter on a 17-yard touchdown pass from Scott Foster to Flamingo Malone and a two-point conversion pass play by the same players.

L.A. Baptist (8-3) dominated the first half behind the running of Lord Cole and the passing combination of Steven Graham and Andrew Petersen. Cole rushed for 129 yards in 13 carries in the first half, including touchdowns of 66 and one yard.

Graham connected with Petersen on touchdown pass plays of 31 and 80 yards. The Knights amassed 307 yards in the first half, but managed only 18 in the second half.

Cole finished with 136 yards in 19 carries, and Graham completed nine of 27 passes for 144 yards with two interceptions. Petersen had no receptions in the second half.
