Steven Murray
Santa Margarita, Cross-Country
Murray won the Southern Section Division II individual title Saturday at Mt. San Antonio College, joining his brother, Michael, as the only Santa Margarita runners to accomplish that feat. It was the top time recorded by a county runner. Murray completed the 2.93-mile course in 15 minutes 5.9 seconds, taking the lead just after the two-mile mark and finishing 10 seconds ahead of Canyon Country Canyon’s Luke Llamas.

Kennedy, Football
Carried the ball 20 times for 157 yards and four touchdowns in Kennedy’s Division VI upset of Villa Park.

University, Water Polo
Recorded 25 saves in two games to help the Trojans advance to the Division II championship game Wednesday.
Keao Burdine
La Habra, Volleyball
The USC-bound senior had 33 kills and 23 digs to help the Highlanders rally for a 7-15, 6-15, 15-10, 15-4, 17-15 upset victory over top-seeded Lakewood St. Joseph in the Southern Section Division II-A final Saturday at Cypress College. Burdine had 12 of her kills in the fifth game. In the final three games, she had 23 kills and hit .500. St. Joseph came into the match as the second-ranked team in the state Division II poll.

Corona del Mar, Tennis
Swept in Corona del Mar’s two playoff victories and didn’t lose a game in two wins at the section individual preliminaries.
* Amber Steen
Newport Harbor, Cross-Country
Built a big lead going into the last mile and won the Division II final in 17 minutes 38.3 seconds on the 2.93-mile course.
